Every Sunday afternoon, after the morning service at their church, the Pastor and his 11-year-old son would go out into their town and hand out Gospel tracts. This particular Sunday afternoon, as it came time for the Pastor and his son to go to the streets with their tracts, it was very cold outside as well as pouring down rain. The boy bundled up in his warmest and driest clothes and said “Okay Dad, I’m ready.”
Hello God, I called tonight
To talk a little while..
I need a friend who’ll listen
To my anxiety and trial…
You see, I can’t quite make it
Through a day just on my own…
I need your love to guide me,
So I’ll never feel alone.
You may not know me, but I know everything about you…
Psalm 139:1
I know when you sit down and when you rise up…
Psalm 139:2
The twenty-six year old mother stared down at her son who was dying of terminal leukemia. Although her heart was filled with sadness, she also had a strong feeling of determination. Like any parent she wanted her son to grow up and fulfill all his dreams. Now that was no longer possible. The leukemia would see to that. But she still wanted her son’s dreams to come true.
I refuse to be discouraged
To be sad or to cry
I refuse to be downhearted
And here’s the reason why:
I have a God who is almighty
Who is sovereign and supreme
I have a God who loves me
And I am on his team
One day a young man was standing in the middle of the town proclaiming that he had the most beautiful heart in the whole valley. A large crowd gathered and they all admired his heart for it was perfect. There was not a mark or a flaw in it. Yes, they all agreed it truly was the most beautiful heart they had ever seen. The young man was very proud and boasted more loudly about his beautiful heart.
The Lord came to me like a dream one day
And asked, “why do you sorrow?”
I answered, “Lord my life is so full of pain,
I can’t face one more tomorrow.”
The Lord sat down beside me
And gently took my hand.
He said, “Let Me explain to you
And then you’ll understand.
Last night I took a journey
To a land across the seas.
I didn’t go by ship or plane
I traveled on my knees.
I saw so many people there
In bondage to their sin,
And Jesus told me I should go,
That there were souls to win.
